Hello there!
January has gone by in a flash and there goes the first month of 2023! Cheers to the first official food log for the year! Since the new year, I’ve felt more focused on my hobbies and building a foundation for myself in the future in hopes that I can potentially make this a full time thing or grow into something I totally do not expect. So for this year in 2023, my vision is to grow my skills in cooking and photography. I'm striving this year to be one of growth and new changes. To my followers, thank you for your interest and support since I first started this blog and my foodie account on Instagram! Also, thank you especially to those who like my content enough to spread it to others and allowing my blog to grow.
And with that, let’s jump into my food log in Charleston for January!
Tavern & Table
Where: 100 Church St, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464
What I ordered: Shrimp and Grits
How much I spent: $34.39
Last dinner with the roommates before they head their separate ways. We enjoyed a nice American style dinner. This place is right on the water, so you can catch the sunset views while you’re having a nice meal. I also need to try their brunch one day!
Istanbul Shish Kabob Restaurant
Where: 4940 Centre Pointe Dr suite c, North Charleston, SC 29418
What I ordered: Chicken Shawarma Sandwich
How much I spent: Free! As courtesy of my friend. ~$10.00
A hole in a wall that I immediately fell in love with! A family owned Turkish restaurant with cheap and delicious homemade-tasting meals.
Harken Café
Where: 62 Queen St, Charleston, SC 29401
What I ordered: Cappuccino
How much I spent: $5.27
I’ve been here a couple times and always love the atmosphere on a sunny afternoon. This small café also has a great lunch selection that I highly recommend trying.
Pink Bellies
Where: 595 King St Ste 1, Charleston, SC 29403
What I ordered: Spicy Lamb Pierogi Dumplings, Sui Cao Dumplings, Spicy Garlic Lo Mein
How much I spent: $40.65 (split amongst two other friends)
I came here to celebrate the Lunar New Years. It’s a Vietnamese-American fusion restaurant. Their food do not disappoint.
Rusty Bull
Where: 3005 W Montague Ave, North Charleston, SC 29418
What I ordered: H-5-O Burger and Peach Pucker Beer
How much I spent: Free! As courtesy of Yelp Elite Event.
Love the staff here! Great food and beer selection, along with axe throwing right next door. We just so happened to come on Taylor Swift trivia night. There is karaoke night as well. Great local vibes here.
The DIME
Where: 30 River Landing Dr, Daniel Island, SC 29492
What I ordered: Chai Latte, Matcha Latte (for my friend)
How much I spent: $12.45
Located on Daniel Island by the river and Kingstide Restaurant. Spacious indoor and outdoor spaces. You can take your coffee to-go and go on a walk by the river. They also serve pizza, which will be on my list to do next time I come here.
NICO
Where: 201 Coleman Blvd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464
What I ordered: House Oysters, House Wine, Trout Almondine, and Creme Brulee
How much I spent: $57.09
This has been on my restaurant bucket list for a long time and recommended by many of my friends. It’s a French cuisine restaurant serving mainly seafood. Loved the service and food overall. However, I would say I wasn’t blown away by the food despite the hype. Be sure to come here during Happy Hour (Mon-Fri 4PM-6PM) to enjoy the house wine and oysters!
When you get the chance to visit Charleston or if you live here, I hope you can make it out to these places! Let me know what restaurants or other places I should visit in the comments below :) I’ll be back on my Japan posts!
