5 Cheap Eats in Tulum

On my trip to Tulum, Mexico, my fiancé and I stayed and mostly dined in Tulum Pueblo. This area is a more budget friendly option than staying in Tulum's Hotel Zone. Although there are still plenty of pricey tourist restaurants in town, there are more cheap options to choose from. Tulum Pueblo is a good place to eat where the locals dine on a daily basis. In this post, I will show 5 places we personally dined at. Each place costs about $300 - $600 MXN ($17-$35) for TWO, so about $150 - $300 for ONE. Everything was so delicious and generally speaking, rightly portioned. Let’s get into it!

My 5 Budget Friendly Spots I Ate at!

1. Burrito Street

  • Giving ✨hole in a wall ✨. This homey place makes their food fresh on-the-spot, and the smell is mouth-watering. The burritos do not disappoint, both in size and taste.

  • Seating: Outdoor with some covering

  • Address: Calle Gama Ote. 567, Tulum Centro, Centro, 77766 Tulum, Q.R., Mexico

2. El Pollo Bronco

  • Unfussy restaurant serving one thing: chicken. From a quarter of a chicken to a whole, pair it with authentic Cola from Mexico!

  • Seating: Indoor, outdoor

  • Address: Avenida Tulum s/n, Centro, 77780 Tulum, Q.R., Mexico

3. El Sudaca

  • Technically serving Argentinian food… But who’s picky? We came here for the empanadas and mezcal.

  • Seating: Outdoor with some covering

  • Address: Calle Polar Pte. 681, Tulum Centro, 77760 Tulum, Q.R., Mexico

4. Taqueria Honorio

  • Taqueria = Tacos Restaurant. What else?

  • Seating: Indoor

  • Address: Satélite Sur 19, Tulum Centro, Villas Huracanes, 77760 Tulum, Q.R., Mexico

5. El Mariachi Loco

  • We only came here for the drinks… But we soon realized afterwards that they served cheap drinks! Meals were also cheap, and I’m sure they would’ve been delish!

  • Seating: Indoor

  • Address: Tulum Centro, 77760 Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico
